Studying is more fun when there is something to show for it. Foxxy’s gamification system rewards your effort with experience points, a levelling system, virtual currency, and a customisable Fox Den. This guide explains how every part of the system works and how to make the most of it.
Your Fox: From Baby to Master
When you join Foxxy, you get your own virtual fox companion. As you study and earn XP, your fox grows and evolves through these levels:

Earning XP
You earn experience points by studying consistently and performing well. Here is how XP is awarded:
Study Sessions
- Completing a review — You earn XP for every card you review, regardless of your rating.
- Rating bonuses — Cards rated “Good” or “Easy” earn slightly more XP than “Again” or “Hard”, rewarding strong recall.
- Session completion bonus — Finishing all due cards in a session awards a bonus on top of individual card XP.
Streaks
- Daily streak — Study at least once per day to maintain your streak. Each consecutive day adds a multiplier to your XP earnings.
- Streak milestones — Reaching 7-day, 30-day, and 100-day streaks awards bonus XP and special rewards.
Other Activities
- Creating cards — Adding new flashcards earns a small amount of XP.
- Completing onboarding — Finishing the initial setup grants a starter XP bonus.
- First study session — Your very first session awards extra XP to kick things off.
Foxcoins
Foxcoins are the virtual currency in Foxxy. You earn them alongside XP as you study, and you can spend them to customise your Fox Den.
Earning Foxcoins
- Foxcoins are awarded after each study session based on the number of cards reviewed.
- Streak milestones grant bonus Foxcoins.
- Levelling up awards a Foxcoin bonus.
Spending Foxcoins
Visit the Fox Den Shop to browse decorations and items. You can purchase:
- Furniture — Tables, shelves, rugs, and more to furnish your den.
- Wall decorations — Posters, paintings, and frames.
- Seasonal items — Limited-time decorations that rotate with the seasons.
- Fox accessories — Hats, scarves, and other wearables for your fox.
Foxcoins cannot be purchased with real money — they are earned exclusively through studying. This keeps the system fair and rewards genuine effort.
The Fox Den
The Fox Den is your personal virtual space that reflects your study journey. Think of it as your fox’s home that you can decorate and personalise.
Decorating Your Den
- Navigate to Fox Den from the main menu.
- Tap the Edit button to enter decoration mode.
- Browse your purchased items and drag them into your den.
- Arrange items however you like — rotate, resize, and reposition freely.
- Tap Save when you are happy with the layout.
Visiting Friends
If you have connected with friends or study group members through deck sharing, you can visit their Fox Dens to see how they have decorated. This adds a social element and a bit of friendly competition.
Study Streaks
Streaks are one of the most motivating features in Foxxy. A streak counts how many consecutive days you have studied.
How Streaks Work
- Study at least one card on a given day to keep your streak alive.
- Your streak counter appears on the dashboard and in the Fox Den.
- Missing a day resets your streak to zero.
Streak Tips
- Set a daily reminder in the app to avoid breaking your streak.
- Even a quick 2-minute session with a few cards is enough to maintain it.
- Use offline mode to keep your streak going when you are travelling or have limited internet.

Making Gamification Work for You

- Do not chase “Easy” ratings for XP. Honest ratings lead to better learning, even if XP gain is slightly lower.
